I’ve been off social [for the most part] and sign on once or twice a week to connect with the ladies inside the Her Renewed Strength: Bible Study for Christian Women with Anxiety group.
Today, I logged onto Facebook and saw some of the reactions to the SCOTUS opinion draft on the overturning of #RoevWade. I have so many big feelings, but Facebook just isn’t the place to share them. A chat over coffee, a FaceTime call, a “let’s talk over laundry” call…that’s where I’ll happily dig into this with those who are interested in really working through it…because it’s something a lot of people need to work through and it deserves space, time and respect to be wrestled with lovingly.
I’ll share this: I’ve advocated and fundraised for #suicideprevention initiatives for many years because, even in the lowest lows of life, life is worth living. I believe this because I hold onto hope and have faith in my good, faithful, generous and merciful God to deliver, provide for and restore the broken.
“The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.”
Psalm 103:6
To some degree, Christians and non-Christians alike agree that life is worth living. This is evidenced by the many initiatives in place and resources available to help #stopsuicide. My prayer today is that whoever reads this would be encouraged to consider that life is worth living, even if (and when) things feel unbearable.
Similarly, I pray that whoever reads this would consider that all lives, even those conceived in the most heartbreaking ways or under the most trying of circumstances, are worth saving. ♥️
In the thick of depression and heartache, I tried to end my life when I was 18. I failed. Not only did the Lord save my life, but, even through cycles of anxiety, depression, alcoholism, substance abuse and other hard, heartbreaking circumstances, He used me to bring two more lives into this world. Even in the middle of cancer, He extended grace and mercy to me [and my love Jonathan Castro] and blessed us with two beautiful children. HE made a way and filled my life with more goodness and joy than I could have ever imagined.
I anticipate some level of disagreement from anyone on the #prochoice side of the #abortion issue. I welcome it. Let’s have coffee. Let’s get on a call. Let’s really share and listen and work through the hard stuff. Wherever you fall on the issue, know that I love you and still call you friend.

in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.”

Isaiah 40:31
but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.
